Frequently Asked Questions

How do I obtain a permit?

Permits are given by the city in which you live. SP fence usually does not help with obtaining permits yet we can absolutely do it if it is a need of our clients.

The permit process is likely to be short and painless. When our clients go to the city to get their permit the city asks a few questions, looks at the plat of survey and the estimate and usually approves it right away. Sometimes there is a few days wait on the permit.

In many cases, you will need to submit a plat of survey along with your permit application. The site plan should include details such as the location of the fence on your property, measurements, and distances from property lines, structures, and easements. Always show your fence line on your plat of survey inside the property lines to avoid delays or misunderstandings. On your application you need to provide information about the type of fence, materials, and any gates or other features.
If the building department identifies any issues or discrepancies during the review or inspection, you may be required to make corrections to bring the fence into compliance. This could involve adjusting the height, relocating the fence, or making changes to the design.

Some cities will require a hole inspection before building a fence. SP fence will schedule it and will be responsible to dig correct hole depth before post hole inspection is scheduled. Normally we do that on the same day during installation so the whole process is seamless. After your fence is done, you will normally call your city hall for a final inspection.
It's important to note that failure to obtain the necessary permit for your fence may result in fines or other penalties. Always check with your local building department to ensure you understand and follow the specific requirements in your area.
